Caffeine can effectively boost your weight loss, but why?
The average person should be able to burn 3 times the amount of calories when consumig caffeine before a wokrout than those who don't!
Even I was unsure at first why caffeine was good at burning fat, I always believed that it speeded up the bodies metabolism, but new information has come to light. Whilst scientists and the scientifically minded have probably known all along, what I’m about to tell you will be of high interest to those of you looking to shed the pounds.
It is a fact that when we do not eat for a long period of time around 10hours our body uses certain hormones to turn glycogen stores into glucose which is released into the blood stream so that our blood sugar levels don’t drop too low. We are basically using our stored energy to keep our body going. Once we have eaten, the hormone initially responsible for using up glycogen (energy) stores is then 'turned off', so the body goes back to using consumed food as the source of energy.
When we drink caffeine the hormone which is responsible for using the bodies energy stores is basically 'stuck on' regardless if we have eaten or not, so the body is using up the stored energy consistently until the caffeine wears off. This is why many people experience an increase in energy after drinking caffeine.
So how can this be used to further increase your weight loss? Well those of you who go to the gym or exercise to lose weight will probably not eat a great deal a few hours before your workout, if this is the case then this means the body will be using more of its stored energy to power your workouts. If you were to take a caffeine supplement or 1-2 energy drinks 20mins before your workout then this will boost the amount of stored energy that is used during a workout thus leading to greater weight loss. Alternatively 1 energy drink or one caffeine tablet can be consume prior to your workout and one after the workout.
Note: the body uses glycogen stores as energy but also uses fat stores too the more stored energy used the more weight you will lose. Also this is not a good idea for late night workouts as some people find it hard to sleep after consuming caffeine.
